no more guesthouses

It's been interesting settling in the last country we will visit before flying to California and camping our way north. Something has definitely shifted for us. We all felt like we needed to nest and rest and be slow and watch some bananas grow. And we all agreed that we did not want to be in guesthouses ever again! We needed our own place.

Originally we had big plans for Indonesia but with the new realizations we decided to just stay on the island of Bali and enjoy this bubble as long as it lasts. We had some disappointments like accommodation cancelled on us at the last moment and the computer crashing and accepting that two months of photos were gone. But in the end we just rolled along with the downs and new ups came along.  Like the kids having their own room and really being able to play fully into their own space, or just read or draw or hang out. And the house that we stumbled upon and ended up being available longer when we were dumped.
We never even planned to visit Sanur. But it has been so good to us and has the things we love like a beach, places to walk to, good grocery stores, a paved path along the ocean to ride bikes, and our house with two bedrooms and a kitchen and kid-friends.
So I thought I'd take you on our little walk from our happy home to the beach.
Out two gates to the street and we are off!
I love looking at all the gates and details along our street...
And a quick walk through a vacant lot and we are at the paved path that runs along the beach front. This is where all the nice hotels are with their beautiful gates to keep us out of their giant, empty infinity pools and sun loungers.
But we found a clever hotel that allows folks like us to be "day members".
This makes it even easier to stay for a while, rent some bikes and chill.
