cruising the aegean

We knew that the one thing we wanted to do while on the coast of Turkey was get out on the water. The Dad had done some research and decided that the booze cruise (of his last visit to Turkey eighteen years ago) was not what we were looking for. Instead, through Trip Advisor he found great reviews for an eight passenger all-day sail/cruise to 5 bays near where we were staying.
The boat is owned by an English woman who has lived in Turkey for 32 years and captained by her Turkish partner.

We left at 9am over coffee and apple tea for the kids.
It was a beautiful day and we were the first to jump in!
Our captain anchored and we swam as long as we liked, with a completely relaxing atmosphere. We saw the "pirate ship" filled with tourists on our way out of one bay and commented on enjoying the seemingly private boat we were on with only two other couples.

We were served a homemade gourmet lunch of quiche, potato and green salad, feta and bread, pears and grapes. All this for only about $20 per person.
The rest of the day we swam, snorkeled and learned riddles from the other passengers before heading home for dinner.

  1. So am I to presume that you are not missing the office yet?

  2. Dear Friends ... So lovely to see you afloat! Chris is much impressed. Sounds like you chose your captain well too. We enjoyed a glassy row on the Pacific today ... still feels like summer!
